    This is not entirely true. We receive vibrations through the other bones and flesh in our head, so of course we need the stapes to better hearing, but fish can hear without middle ear! . sign Brain 😀

      You JUST confirmed that stapes affects your audio perception so I’m not sure what the argument is here… Did you just want to talk about fish?

      You’re not really adding anything useful here Brian. While your statement is technically true you’re downplaying the importance of the ossicular chain and why the stapes has a wonderful power complex.

    Technically, stapes doesn’t stomp on the eardrum, rather it’s the ear drum that makes it vibrate. Sound is received from the eardrum and then sends vibrations to the little bones that are carried to the cochlea, not the other way around 🙂
