I always imagine the Pancreas as an old soldier. It works so hard, right until the end. Then it takes its injury and still does all its other jobs as best as it can.
The worst part? The injury is from friendly fire. The immune system is to blame for the destruction of those beta cells.

Who would think that not getting sick would come with its own set of consequences… Of course I remember getting sick all the time as a kid before I became a diabetic…

As a type 1 diabetic, I would love to have pancreas as a plushie. I mean, if my own isn’t going to work, at least I can carry one around that is adorable.
